Every time I see someone say that all we have to do is wait 3 more years for everything to be over, I lose hope.

One of the most heinous things I keep seeing at protests is “If Kamala won we’d be at brunch”.

Or that meme about boomers saying this is the first time they’ve felt the need to protest.

Utterly insane things, that’s the problem! Vote for Kamala because she was the lesser evil, but if you just accept the lesser evil without trying to stop evil at all then eventually you just end up with evil.

    3. I *don’t* think the people out in the streets of Minneapolis trying to protect their neighbors from being brutalized by ICE are doing it for convenience.

I think they really believe I justice

Yeah, some people will definitely be radicalized by current events but once we reach normalcy (if we do) Most of them will just go back to living in ignorant bliss.

    5. so now apparently white people protesting and putting their lives in danger to protect (mostly non white) immigrants is bad too?

how much did putin pay yall to post this divisive slop?

She’s not wrong. As long as people are fed and entertained they won’t challenge power in a meaningful way.

We’re not starving and as soon as people stop getting disappeared off the streets and executed in broad daylight we’ll go back to focusing on whatever the fuck Taylor Swift did this weekend, or who Pete Davidson is fucking this Thursday.

    7. I’ve posted this a few times before, the reason it’s important to film and post is to make it uncomfortable for everyone. Until everyone is feeling it things won’t change.

Malcolm X never lied about white liberals. Peep how ICE was already murdering ppl but soon as two white ppl get killed “we must stand together”??

Also the “this isn’t the America I know” and the “we’re turning into 1930s Germany” really shows me how much they never gave a shit about what was happening to us this entire time.

I mean have you guys seen the comments under This Is America lately? A lot of them only care now because it’s their own

    10. This is a correct sentiment.

My theory is if they were fighting for justice they would be camped out in Washington or somewhere all the time.

I’m not knocking anyone that is protesting but the only reason this is such a big deal is white people are being impacted and they are doing exactly this.

On the other side though maybe we see change and we can push our will to stop police from murdering black kids and black men and women for reasons….

    11. 100%. Too many people around me don’t realize this shit didn’t start with Donald Trump and it won’t end when his worthless ass does. The machine is running loudly right now- but it doesn’t stop when we tune it up to run smooth. It stops when we break the machine.

    12. Most humans are not moved primarily by some abstract ideal like justice, but concrete realities like comfort. It can be both but recognize that when you are looking at a group en masse it’ll be the latter that starts the fire. That’s why at moments when things are uncomfortable and they’re looking for answers it’s important they’re educated about the causes so that even when things “calm down” and “get comfortable” they don’t see this as a mere blip in the moment but a real function of the system.

    13. The issue isn’t the GOP nor the far right alone, this is late-stage Capitalism. Without addressing that, all of these problems will persist.

The system is completely collapsing and being propped up by increasing violence. The only way forward are extreme changes

    14. That’s exactly what it is and you can see it everywhere. Including in the fact that people are still acting as if ICE is only going after white or indigenous Spanish-speakers, but ignoring the relentless targeting of African and Caribbean immigrant communities in the US including right there in Minneapolis.

    15. Why is this sub continually posting attacks against the people that are trying to protect immigrants? What is the goal here?

    16. Here before the thread gets locked down from cliche white liberals that think this shit is new. It’s not. We tried telling yall if it can happen to us, it can most definitely happen to you.
